About the P0 port pull-up resistor problem:

If the STC89C52 version is used, if the P0 port is used for external output driving, an external pull-up resistor is required. For a general LCD bus such as LCD1602 and LCD12864, it can be used directly without an external pull-up resistor.

In the STC12C5A60S2 version, the IO drive mode can be set using the registers P0M1 and P0M0. No external pull-up resistor required
